Galatians: The Gospel Of Grace And Freedom In Christ

Galatians

Galatians defends the true gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul warns believers not to turn from grace to the works of the Law and teaches that believers are justified by faith, made sons of God, and called to walk by the Spirit.

I. There Is Only One True Gospel

📖 Galatians 1–2

🔹 Paul warns against any different gospel.
🔹 The gospel Paul preached came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.
🔹 Paul explains that he did not receive his message from men.
🔹 He rebuked Peter when Peter’s actions separated Jewish and Gentile believers.
🔹 A person is not justified by works of the Law but through faith in Jesus Christ.

II. Justification By Faith, Not By The Works Of The Law

📖 Galatians 3–4

🔹 The believers received the Spirit by hearing with faith.
🔹 Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness.
🔹 The Law cannot give life or make a person righteous before God.
🔹 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law.
🔹 Believers are sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
🔹 God sent His Son so that we might receive adoption as sons.
🔹 Believers are no longer slaves but sons and heirs through God.

III. Freedom Through The Spirit

📖 Galatians 5–6

🔹 Christ has made believers free.
🔹 Believers must not return to bondage under the Law.
🔹 Faith works through love.
🔹 The flesh and the Spirit are opposed to one another.
🔹 The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
🔹 Believers are to restore one another gently, bear one another’s burdens, and sow to the Spirit.
🔹 The only boast is in the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ.
